Caterpillar, Inc.
Evan Jacobson is Collaborative Product & Process Development Black Belt, Mechatronics group at Caterpillar, Inc. where his focus is engine system controls development and simulation/optimization of engine applications, primarily in on-highway truck. Upon earning BS and MS degrees in Mechanical Engineering from Iowa State University, Mr. Jacobson joined Caterpillar as an Advanced Fuel Systems Development Engineer. From that position, Evan advanced to a Senior Development Engineer, performing transient emissions development. He then moved to a field follow position, supporting the products he had previously helped develop. That experience led to a Performance/Emissions Analyst position. Because of his propensity to process improvement, a Developmental Tools Development position was created for him. In this position, Mr. Jacobson conceived and led implementation of a number of performance/emissions modeling/optimization tools. Shortly after creating that position, Caterpillar implemented Six Sigma and Mr. Jacobson became an Embedded Black Belt. After leading a number of process improvement projects, Mr. Jacobson assumed his present role as Collaborative Product and Process Development (CPPD) Black Belt in a mechatronics group.
