Kinzy Jones

Mr. Jones is a Principal Staff Scientist in the Motorola iDEN Mechanical Design Center and a Motorola Six Sigma Black belt. He obtained his Ph.D. from the University of California at Berkeley in Material Science and Engineering in 1999, and since then he has been with Motorola. His interests are in mechanics, spanning the entire range from fluid to structural. Mr. Jones’ current focus is improving the understanding of the mechanical reliability of electronic packages through mathematical modeling and simulation, and how this relates to improved product performance. Past areas of industrial research including modeling of Pb-free solders, creating novel micro heat transfer devices and development of 3D advanced packaging technologies. He has published over thirty-five papers in journals and technical meetings. He is an active member of IMAPS, ASME and IEEE.
