Michael Lederhose has been in his current position as senior plant design engineer at Uhde GmbH for the past two years, where he has responsibility for the selection and implementation of commercial computer systems at the company. Prior to this he worked for several years in the field of conceptual equipment arrangement engineering at Dortmund University.

Abstract

Optimization of Plant Layout and Piping MTO by Means of a Conceptual Modeler: Scope of Application and Limitations of Corresponding Software Systems
Using a conceptual modeler permits the application of a 3D equipment arrangement layout at a very early engineering stage. Even at a low level of information these systems provide for efficient plant model creation as well as assessment and optimization with the aid of various criteria. A substantial aid of assessment is the plant piping layout generated by means of a pipe router. The MTOs created simultaneously are suitable as a basis for adequate costing during the bidding phase.
