Kumar Vakamudi, as he is known at Bechtel, has worked in various capacities on projects involving petroleum and chemical, pipeline, power, and telecommunications since joining Bechtel in 1981. In his twenty-six years in engineering, he has worked in several functional management roles, championed the roll-out of EPC innovation, and played an integral role in establishing and implementing the multi-project acquisition strategy for Bechtel. Areas of expertise include engineering management, control systems engineering, systems integration, and plant automation. Known for his cross-functional skills and multi-tasking abilities, Mr. Vakamudi is skilled at integrating procurement, project controls, project management, and construction roles, leading to successful execution of projects. An active contributor to company initiatives and strategies, Mr. Vakamudi is committed to engineering revitalization and Six Sigma process. Prior to joining Bechtel he was associated with the space program at Johnson Space Center, and with biomedical engineering at the Texas Heart Institute. Mr. Vakamudi holds a B.S. in mechanical engineering from India, a M.S. in interdisciplinary engineering, and has completed academic requirements for a doctoral degree in engineering from Texas A&M University. A registered Professional Engineer in Texas, Mr. Vakamudi is a senior member of the Instrumentation, Systems, and Autmation Society.
