FIATECH

Dr. Richard H. F. Jackson is the founding director of FIATECH, a not-for-profit industry consortium focused on fast-track development and deployment of technologies to improve substantially the design, engineering, build, and maintenance cycles in the capital projects industry. FIATECH members realize benefit by working collectively to discover, develop, and deploy high-value technologies to achieve real improvements in quality, cycle time, and cost. As director, Dr. Jackson personally led development of the Capital Projects Technology Roadmap, a comprehensive analysis of the state of technology and long-term requirements for the capital projects industry that has since become internationally recognized. Dr. Jackson also personally directs the technical strategy, research agenda, and development initiatives of the consortium.

Prior to launching FIATECH, Dr. Jackson served nearly 30 years with the prestigious National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), the premier research organization of the U.S. Department of Commerce, completing his distinguished career as director of the Manufacturing Engineering Laboratory (MEL), leading a staff of over 400 scientists and directing research in sensing and high precision dimensional measurements, advanced control and sensing in automated machines and robotic manipulators; and information technology in manufacturing. Dr. Jackson is considered one of the foremost global authorities in technology for the capital projects industry, and his service is in constant demand by numerous national and international technology and educational advisory boards.

Dr. Jackson is a frequent speaker at national and international forums on the subjects of integration, automation, and interoperability in the capital projects industry, and has published over 100 technical papers in the fields of mathematical modeling, nonlinear optimization, automated manufacturing, and technology transfer. Dr. Jackson earned a bachelor's degree from Johns Hopkins University, a master's degree from Southern Methodist University, and a doctorate from George Washington University.
