ESI Reports Revenue for Quarter Ended April 30, 2009
ESI Group (June 11, 2009) reported sales for the quarter of €16.4 up 11.6 % from €14.7 for the same period last year. Licenses were 68% of revenue at €11.1 vs 73% of revenue last year. And Maintenance and Services revenue were 32% of revenue at € 3 vs 27% of revenue last year. Geographic breakdown of revenue was US 23%, Europe 38% and Asia 38% vs 47%, 13% and 40% respectively for the same period last year.

ANSYS Software used By Delta Yachts for Structural and Vibration Analysis

ANSYS (March 7, 2009) reported preliminary results for the first quarter ending March 31, 2009. Revenue was $116.3 million up from $109.5 million for the same period last year. Net revenue was $21 million down from $26 million for the same period last year.

MSC Reports Q1 2009 Preliminary Results
MSC Software Corporation (May 7, 2009) reported results for the quarter ending March 31, 2009. Revenue was $53.6 million down 12% from $61.2 million for the same period last year. Software revenue, down 21% from the same period last year, was 32% of revenue (vs 36% in Q1 08), maintenance was 58% of revenue (vs 54% in Q1 08) and services were 10% of revenue (10% Q1 08). MSC, which has been reducing expenses, cut 20% off it’s R&D budget and 28% off its Sales & Marketing 28% budget of last year and came in with a net income from continuing operations of $0.1 million.

AVEVA Provides Highlights of FY 2008/9 Results
In a period end trading update AVEVA said that their fiscal year end March 31, 2009 revenue would meet forecasts of £157.35 million up from FY2008 revenue of £127.56 million. Final results will be released May 26th. In their outlook for 2009/10 they said “…we currently anticipate that revenue from initial licence fees will decline in 2009/10 by between 30% and 40% accompanied by a marginal decline in rental fees and a smaller than expected increase in annual fees.” AVEVA will restructure and reduce headcount by 10% and combine CES and WEMEA under one EMEA regional headquarters.

AEC software developer Nemetschek (April 28, 2009) reported peliminary revenue results for Q1 2009 of €33.6 million down 8% from €36.4 million for the same period last year. They forecast FY 2009 revenue of from 5% to 10% down from FY2008 revenue of €150.4 million.

Dassault Systemes Releases Q1 2009 Results
Dassault Systemes (DSY.FR) (April 30, 2009) reported its Q1 preliminary results for period ending March 31, 2009. First-quarter net profit fell to €28.8 million from €57.1 million a year earlier, while revenue rose 7% to €309.7 million from €307.4 million, according to International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS). Software revenue growth was down 5%. America revenue was down 10%, Europe was flat and Asia was down 12% all in constant currencies. Dassault, which formerly listed on NASDAQ, now lists on Euronext.

PTC Reports Q2 2009 Results
PTC (April 28, 2009 ) reported Q2 2009 results with profits down 62% over the same period last year. Revenue was down 13% to $225 million vs $257 million for the same period last year. License revenue was down 46% to $42 million vs $78 million for the same period last year. Services revenue grew to $183.2 million up $3.3 million over last year’s $179.9 million. Total costs and expenses were $227 million resulting in an operating loss of $1.4 million. PTC revised down their FY2009 revenue forecast to $940 million, down 12% from their FY2008 revenue.

Dassault Systemes Releases Peliminary Q4 2008 Financial Results Under Forecast
Dassault Systemes (January 16, 2009) reported Friday that its Q4 preliminary revenue and earnings per share results will be below its objectives. CEO Bernard Charles attributed the earnings slowdown to customer reluctance to sign contracts that DS expected to close in the last days of the quarter. Dassault said that preliminary non-GAAP total revenue is estimated at €382 million, compared to the company's non-GAAP objective of €385 million to €395 million. Preliminary non-GAAP earnings per share is estimated at €0.65 to € .70, compared to DS’ non-GAAP Q4 earnings per share objective of €..79 to €.84. DS will report full year and Q4 results February 11, 2009.

Autodesk Restructuring; Revises Down Q4 FY09 Outlook
Autodesk (January 15, 2009) as the economy "... continues to impact their end-user demand" has revised its outlook for Q4 FY2009 revenue from $525 million - $550 million to $475 million - $500 million and plans to reduce operating costs to save an estimated $130 million. PTC Sees Revenue Flat
PTC (January 8, 2009) said that it expects to report Q1 non-GAAP revenue of $240 million, which it said would be flat compared to the same quarter a year ago. The company had previously forecast revenue of $250 million to $260 million and said that the expected shortfall in revenue compared to guidance is due to fewer than expected license sales. The firm expects adjusted earnings per share of between 14 cents to 16 cents in the quarter vs the 23 cents for the quarter that Wall Street had estimated. PTC does not pay dividends.
