Alfred Katzenbach is the Director of Information Technology, IT Processes and Standardization for the Mercedes Benz Car Group Development, DaimlerChrysler AG. From 1998 to 2004, Katzenbach was Director of Information Technology for Engineering Processes at DaimlerChrysler Research and Technology. Prior to that, Katzenbach was a Senior Manager heading various departments of DaimlerChrysler including CAD/CAM and PDM strategy for vehicle development and manufacturing (passenger cars and commercial vehicles); CAD/CAM support for vehicle development; CAD/CAM support for assembly plants; and design and planning for advanced manufacturing facilities. Before that, Katzenbach was responsible for multiple tasks in mechanical design and manufacturing at DaimlerChrysler Sindelfingen.
In addition, Katzenbach is a member of DaimlerChrysler’s Strategic Working Groups, where as a speaker he has addressed the EDM Center of Competence (Mercedes Car Group, Chrysler Group and Commercial Vehicles). A DaimlerChrysler Representative, he is head of the board of ProStep iViP Association as well as a member of the board of the Center for Graphical Information Management (ZGDV, Darmstadt). Katzenbach has given lectures at University, Stuttgart titled “IT and Knowledge Processing in Product Development” and at Steinbeis University, Berlin titled “Knowledge Management in Product Development.”
Katzenbach has a Master’s degree in a Mechanical Engineering, from the University of Darmstadt. His key fields of study included design theory and mechanical simulation. Katzenbach is married and has four children.
